Weathering (pg 115) – the process by which natural forces break down rocks Mechanical weathering (pg 116) – the breaking up of rocks by physical forces without changing their composition Exfoliation (pg 116) – a process in which layers or sheets of rock gradually break off Abrasion (pg 116) – is the process of wearing something down by friction Chemical weathering (pg 118) – the breakdown of rocks by chemical reactions (Due to exposure to air or water) that change the rocks’ makeup, or composition
