Hal Noakes’ Guide for Meeting Point & ViGO (Preface) 1 of 22 • BEFORE YOU START • Make sure you have a SWITCHED, FULL DUPLEX ethernet connection (critical, so make sure) This means you are not sharing a “hub” either in your office or down the hall in the wiring closet and that data can go in both directions at the same time. • PC should have Intel Pentium III, 800 MHz, 256 MB RAM (NOT AMD processor) • PC must be running Windows 98 or 2000 (NT doesn’t support USB) • If you are using NT, call me… there is an internal card that can be used… the VCON Escort 25. However, two processor systems are not compatible. • Do the complete software installation BEFORE you plug the VIGO into the PC for the first time • Go through this PowerPoint presentation completely before you open the box (you may need to exchange it for a different model)

It is a good idea to print out the installation guide for reference Version 4.51 is current as of September 2001.

  10. Hal Noakes’ Guide for Meeting Point & ViGO (Installation) 10 of 22 Restart your computer and then plug the USB cord from the VIGO into the USB port on the computer. Then turn on the power switch on the VIGO and you will see the USB being recognized as VCON VIGO.

If you are using a different model, you might need to select it from the pick-list. Your User Name should be the same as your MXM login name. The User Number will be automatically assigned and is the number people will “dial” to talk with you. The Gatekeeper Address is the same as the MXM address.

Can you insert a couple more slides that highlight the Dialer function? People ought to be savvy enough to work through most of the toolbar options, but dialing requires knowing the UVA IP and things like that.

  21. Hal Noakes’ Guide for Meeting Point & ViGO (Connection) 21 of 22 Type User Number of person to be called in the entry box My number is 705 Click on Options Finally, Click Dial to make call! Set the bandwidth for the call in the lower entry box. Note: 384 is good, 768 is better.

Press function key “F5” to refresh this information and get the latest status of network participants. Endpoints that are “on” and ready to receive a call have a green globe. If there is a telephone next to the globe, that person is already in a call. Double click the icon to make the call.
