  1. Biblical Time Line AscensionRapture Return ParenthesisEternal The Law (Church Age) Trib. Kingdom State OT NT 7 years 1,000 years Day of the Lord

  2. The Return of the King – Revelation 19 Now that Rome has been punished for her defilement of the earth, heaven explodes with praise.

  3. The Return of the King – Revelation 19:1-5 “Alleluia” Used four times in the first six verses, this is a form of the Hebrew word meaning “Praise Jah” or “Praise the Lord”. The God of Israel had avenged His servants and defended His people.

  4. The Return of the King – Revelation 19:1-5 “Alleluia” 1) God is praised because His judgments are “true” and “righteous, i.e. they are in accord with His word, doing what He said He would do, and He is right in performing them.

  5. The Return of the King – Revelation 19:1-5 “Alleluia” 2) God has rightfully avenged the blood of those who served Him.

  6. The Return of the King – Revelation 19:1-5 Joy is expressed because this revived Roman empire will never again be able to deceive the world and kill His servants.

  7. The Return of the King – Revelation 19:1-5 “Amen” = “So be it”, “That’s true” A term of agreement. Notice that heaven calls on those who serve Him to affirm His righteousness and to praise Him for His actions.

  8. The Return of the King – Revelation 19:1-5 We can be so overcome with the sadness and distaste for what happens here when we read this that we fail to vindicate God and, in fact, exalt Him for His rightness, His patience, and for the need to do what will be done. It would be wrong to withhold our praise!

  9. The Return of the King – Revelation 19:6-8 The fourth alleluia is given for the reality of God’s sovereign rule and for His limitless power. Unlike the return of the king in Lord of the Rings, this King’s return ends the rule of man and the rule of God begins.

  10. The Return of the King – Revelation 19:6-8 Further praise and joy come from the reality of the marriage with Christ and His bride, the Church. The Bride of Christ involves all believers from Pentecost to the Rapture of the Church. 1 Cor. 12:12; Gal. 3:21-28

  11. The Return of the King – Revelation 19:6-8 The Marriage Supper of the Lamb will probably involve a continuous celebration throughout the 1,000 year reign. Isa. 25:6-9; 35; 55:12

  12. The Return of the King – Revelation 19:6-8 Notice that it is the good works of believers that give them white garments, not something automatically given to all who believe. Rom. 4:1-5; Eph. 2:1-10; Rev. 3:5 These are the righteous acts “of the saints”, not just anyone in general. 1 Cor. 1:2

  13. The Return of the King – Revelation 19:9 The Marriage Supper is for those who have been “called” to it. Mt. 22:1-14; Lk. 19:11-27; 1 Thess. 2:12; 2 Thess. 2:13-15 This is a celebration of the faithful.

  14. The Return of the King – Revelation 19:9 In regard to this celebration that Jesus said, “Many are called (“invited”), but few are chosen (for the reward)”. Mt. 22:14 While believers are all invited, not all of us will prepare ourselves for this honor and be faithful until the end. Rev. 2:26

  15. The Return of the King – Revelation 19:9 We need to live our lives in such a way as to realize the great privilege and responsibility that is ours!

  16. The Return of the King – Revelation 19:9 “Two little lines I heard one day, Traveling along life’s busy way; Bringing conviction to my heart, And from my mind would not depart; Only one life, ’twill soon be past, Only what’s done for Christ will last.

  17. The Return of the King – Revelation 19:9 Only one life, yes only one, Soon will its fleeting hours be done; Then, in ‘that day’ my Lord to meet, And stand before His Judgment seat; Only one life, ’twill soon be past, Only what’s done for Christ will last.

  18. The Return of the King – Revelation 19:9 Only one life, the still small voice, Gently pleads for a better choice Bidding me selfish aims to leave, And to God’s holy will to cleave; Only one life, ’twill soon be past, Only what’s done for Christ will last.

  19. The Return of the King – Revelation 19:9 Only one life, a few brief years, Each with its burdens, hopes, and fears; Each with its clays I must fulfill, living for self or in His will; Only one life, ’twill soon be past, Only what’s done for Christ will last.

  20. The Return of the King – Revelation 19:9 When this bright world would tempt me sore, When Satan would a victory score; When self would seek to have its way, Then help me Lord with joy to say; Only one life, ’twill soon be past, Only what’s done for Christ will last.

  21. The Return of the King – Revelation 19:9 Give me Father, a purpose deep, In joy or sorrow Thy word to keep; Faithful and true what e’er the strife, Pleasing Thee in my daily life; Only one life, ’twill soon be past, Only what’s done for Christ will last.

  22. The Return of the King – Revelation 19:9 Oh let my love with fervor burn, And from the world now let me turn; Living for Thee, and Thee alone, Bringing Thee pleasure on Thy throne; Only one life, ‘twill soon be past, Only what’s done for Christ will last.

  23. The Return of the King – Revelation 19:9 Only one life, yes only one, Now let me say, “Thy will be done”; And when at last I’ll hear the call, I know I’ll say “’twas worth it all”; Only one life, ’twill soon be past, Only what’s done for Christ will last. ”

  24. The Return of the King – Revelation 19:10 What John saw so stunned him, he proceeded to worship the messenger. Angels are not to be worshipped and are our fellow-servants. Ex. 34:14; Mt. 4:10

  25. The Return of the King – Revelation 19:10 “For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy” Eternal life is through Jesus Christ. Our futures are determined by what we do with Him. All prophecy ultimately points to this. This will be especially true during the Tribulation.

  26. The Return of the King – Revelation 19:11-16 Thousands of years of prayer are now answered! Matt. 6:10

  27. The Return of the King – Revelation 19:11-16 The One who first came on a donkey now returns as “the victorious Warrior-King ‘who will just the world in righteousness’ (Acts 127:31) and send forth ‘justice to victory’ Matt. 12:20.” The Grace New Testament Commentary p. 1319

  28. The Vision of the King – Revelation 19:11-16 “I saw heaven opened” A new vision.

  29. The Vision of the King – Revelation 19:11-12 The vision of Jesus: “White horse” = victory “Faithful and True” = One who righteously keeps His word “In righteousness…judges and makes war” = judicial responsibility; fairness and justice

  30. The Vision of the King – Revelation 19:11-12 The vision of Jesus: “Eyes like a flame of fire” = penetrating judgment that sees all “Many crowns” = all rulers are defeated (1 Chron. 20:1-2; Ps. 2; 47:8!)

  31. The Vision of the King – Revelation 19:12-13 The vision of Jesus: “Name…no one knew” = part of the reality of Christ is known, but aspects of Him are unknowable; beyond comprehension (Isa. 9:6) “Robe dipped in blood” = Probably a reference to His conquest of His enemies

  32. The Armies of the King – Revelation 19:14 “White horses” We share in His victory! “Fine linen, white and clean” It is likely the faithful believers get to enjoy this return, but it may include all.

  33. The Return of the King – Revelation 19:15 “Out of His mouth…sharp sword” Symbolic: The execution of, and faithfulness to, His Word! Heb. 4:12 At His word, they will fall! Ps. 2:5

  34. The Return of the King – Revelation 19:15 So, who are they fighting against? Not the Creator of the earth Rev. 14:6-7; 11:4 But, the god of the heavens (sky)! Rev. 11:12-13; 13:6; 16:8-11

  35. The Return of the King – Revelation 19:15 “He Himself will rule them with a rod of iron” We’ve blown it. Now, the Son of God will bring His kingdom and rule. His will, not ours, will be done! Psalm 2

  36. The Return of the King – Revelation 19:15 “He Himself will rule them with a rod of iron” All believers enter the Kingdom of God. John 3:1-16 Faithful believers, overcomers, will share in His rule. Rev. 2:25

  37. The Return of the King – Revelation 19:15 These were the principles presented by Jesus to His people Israel in the Sermon on the Mount, as in the Beatitudes. Mt. 5:1-13 He must be obeyed in the Kingdom, something all glorified believers will do, as we will be like Him. 1 John 3:2

  38. The Return of the King – Revelation 19:15 “He Himself treads the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God” The horror of what has been done will be met with swift, overwhelming justice.

  39. The Return of the King – Revelation 19:15 ”And He has on His robe and on His thigh a name written: KING OF KINGS ANDLORD OF LORDS” Jesus Christ, and Jesus Christ alone, will rule heaven and earth!
