Block 4 Block 5 Block 1 Block 2 Block 3 Block 6 Block 9 Block 7 Block 8 Block 10 Block 9 Block 11 (b) (c) (a) TITLE OF THE POSTERName1, Name2, Name3 and Name4E-mail: Name1@University1.com, Name2@University2.com, Name3@University3.com and Name4@University4.com Eye catching phrase THEME: • Among those proposed write here the theme you have selected CONCEPT: • In one sentence describe the concept you develop in the poster ANALYSIS: • In one sentence write the guideline of the scientific research you present here 1. INTRODUCTION You may choose to have or not the introduction block. Though it is recommended since it enables you to define clearly what the issues are. It can help you structure your reasoning and start connecting the 2 papers you are using as references. In any textbox, do not use any font smaller than 28, for a good readability of the poster!! 2. DEVELOPMENT Be brief, and opt for block diagram or sketches whenever possible to illustrate concepts. Viewers don’t actually want to read about the gruesome details, however fascinating you might find them. Figure 1. Illustration by block diagram, flow chart • The overall layout for this section should be modified from this template to best show off your graphs and other result-related illustrations. You might want to have two or a single column to accommodate a big map, or perhaps you could arrange several figures in a circle in the center of the poster: do whatever it takes to make your results graphicallyclear. And make your graphs big enough to read from 2 meters away. • Paragraph format is fine, but sometimes a simple list of “bullet” points can communicate results more effectively: • Remark 1 • Remark 2 Figure 2. Make sure legends have enough detail to explain to the viewer what the results are, but don’t go on and on. Don’t be tempted to reduce font size in figure legends, axes labels, etc.—your viewers are probably most interested in reading your figures and legends! 3. APPLICABILITY & CONCLUSIONS Here, you want to show that your concept/ideas can be developed toward an application in the field of the theme you have selected. Bear in mind that this is the main emphasis of your poster, the ending point of your poster. Conclusions should not be mere reminders of your reasoning/results. Instead, you want to guide the reader through what you have concluded from the results. What is the broader significance? Would anyone be mildly surprised? Why should anyone care? This section should refer back, explicitly, to the eye catching “burning issue” mentioned in the introduction. A good conclusion will always refer to the literature on the topic -- how does your research add to what is already published on the topic? 4. REFERENCES • Paper 1: Author 1, Author 2 and Author 3, “Title of paper 1,” in proc. European Microwave Week, Amsterdam, October 2008 • Paper 2: Author 1, Author 2 and Author 3, “Title of paper 2,” in proc. European Microwave Week, Amsterdam, October 2008 • … Sponsored by:
