  1. PIMS - PLANET Intelligent Manufacturing Systems Ruth Aylett Centre for Virtual Environments University of Salford

  2. What it is • Focus on application area • Manufacturing in the widest sense • Clear link to workflow • Website • Covers meetings • Roadmap • Other activities • Membership • still rather weak - about 6-8 nodes • Roadmap • Covers issues and applications • Relationship to Intelligent Manufacturing

  3. Activity • Joint meeting with Workflow TCU • DynaTool EoI, also with Workflow TCU • Also jointly with IM NoE • This involved 40+ organisations

  4. Problems • Few PLANET nodes are working in this area • Salford node lacks time for coordination • Also involved in coordinating WP2 • Active in AeroSpace TCU • Need to involve nodes with organisation of events • For example Information Day in Prague in May

  5. Plans • Good contacts with IM network • Turning this into activity is harder • Meeting planned for IFACIMS conference in April • Use of Roadmap as a way of building links • How to take DynaTool forward? • IPs are too big for Unis to lead (and SMEs) • Need to find large industrial partner to lead this
