  2. Attachment • Attachment is the feeling of being close to someone and the feeling of being safe near that person.

  3. Bully • A bully is someone who threatens another person or degrades another person.

  4. Cyberbullying • Cyberbullying is the threatening of someone through the use of technology.

  5. Direct instruction • Direct instruction is a form of instruction to teach a basic skill using different techniques that have defined borders.

  6. English language learner • An English language learner is a student who does not speak English fluently due to the fact they were not exposed to English before attending school.

  7. Family educational rights and Privacy act • In 1974, the government passed a law that gave students and parents the ability to look at school records but limits who else looks at their school records.

  8. Giftedness • Giftedness is the intelligence or high ability of students to the point that special classes are needed to help them reach their potential.

  9. Hearing loss • Hearing loss is the inability of a person to hear the sounds within the normal range of a human’s voice.

  10. Illusion of knowledge • Illusion of knowledge is a student thinking that they know a fact or idea but really has no idea what it is.

  11. Jigsaw technique • Jigsaw technique is a way to teach students a topic by dividing the material among the students and the students teach their peers.

  12. Knowledge base • Knowledge base is the information that one already possesses about certain subjects and the world around them.

  13. Long-term memory • Long-term memory is a part of a person’s memory that is not forgotten over a long period of time.

  14. Mean • Mean is the average of a group of numbers in math.

  15. Neglected student • A neglected student is one whom others do not care for one way or the other.

  16. overgeneralization • Overgeneralization is not narrowing down the topic that will be being addressed at that time.

  17. Peer Pressure • Peer pressure is the pressure put on a student to act or behave like their peers in a positive or negative manner.

  18. Quantitative research • Quantitative research is research that can be defined by numbers.

  19. Rehearsal • Rehearsal is a way of learning and remembering information by repeating that information over and over.

  20. Self-talk • Self-talk is a method of directing oneself through an assignment by talking to oneself.

  21. Teacher directed instruction • Teacher directed instruction is a method of teaching by a teacher who is in control of the material and the information that is learned in the class.

  26. Youth activism • Youth activism is a student who is active in the community in order to bring about change in the social climate.

  27. Zone of proximal development (zpd) • Zone of proximal development is a group of things that a student can do with the help of someone else but cannot do alone.
