  2. An effective argument has • A logical conclusion that is supported by valid premises*. *A premise is a proposition upon which an argument is based and/or a conclusion is drawn. Example: Premise 1: John Doe is a doctor. Premise 2: All doctors treat patients. Conclusion: John Doe treats patients.

  3. Avoid logical fallacies or defects in arguments that cause them to be invalid. Free trade will be good for this country. The reason is patently clear. Isn’t it obvious that unrestricted commercial relations will bestow on all sections of this nation the benefits which result when there is an unimpeded flow of goods between countries?

  4. Should school uniforms be required? Would you want to go to a school with possible gang members or where intruders could easily enter? I think not. School uniforms assist school officials in distinguishing who students are or aren’t therefore they should be required.

  5. Good Example: Should school uniforms be required? “School uniforms should be required in order to ensure safety and security at school. Without uniforms, school officials have no ability to determine who is or is not a student. This presents a substantial security risk because intruders could mix in with the student body. In some high schools in the United States, non-student gang members have caused problems by infiltrating schools without the knowledge of authorities. Requiring school uniforms would solve this problem. This will create a safer atmosphere at schools, allowing teachers and students to focus more on education. It will also decrease the risk of violence at school.”
