  2. Linear Perspective • Is a drawing technique used for creating an illusion of space where parallel lines converge on the viewer’s horizon line

Attributes of Linear Perspective • The following items play a major role in creating the illusion of space: • Horizon Line: viewer’s point of where the vanishing point lies; distant convergence of the sky and ground • Vanishing Point: point where all perspective lines converge • Perspective Lines: lines that recede to the horizon line • Overlap: objects closer appear in front of distant objects • Scale: objects farther away appear smaller than those that are closer • Ellipse: circle placed into perspective • Atmospheric/Aerial Perspective: object far away appear less distinct, bluer in color and light is reduced
