What needs to be done (Phase 1) • Description the scenario (History of ESZ in UKM) OUR RESEARCH FOCUS • ESZ Phenomenological study > Partial Action Research OUR ROLE • Option 1: active researcher to help solve / intervene the problem • Option 2: researcher studying the phenomena in ESZ according to our area of interest / focus • Option 3: passive-active researcher > proposing of innovative intervention ? (do we follow through?)

  3. OUR ROLE • researcher studying the phenomena in ESZ according to areas of concerns (in Research Proposal); provision of instrument; help to structure intervention (transfer of technology); feedback > option to lead to innovative intervention and follow-up

  4. Next Step • Conceptual Framework – • Bearing in mind that the ESZ is currently a fluid, flexible and initial stage of implementation (amoeba-like?) Various theories which can be used to reveal the relationship of various concept s for the basis of the researchg in the research ie identity, language development, fluency, literacy, ICT in ELT etc. • Taking stock of • Documents: History and philosophy; white paper; working paper; (Dr Zaharah); Activities @ Kolej (Dr Hazita); • Document analysis; > Report / Exec Summary > paper • Existing ESZ activities, etc. > Illuminative evaluation • ‘Corrective measures’ for current scenario • Documents on role players: Pengetua, JAKSA , identify Key Informants • Focus session with Pengetuas – • Focus session with JAKSA : a few to be scheduled
