  2. When you are all set to fly off for a long awaited vacation, you rarely allow anything to come in the way. Leave at work, children’s school schedules, family or neighbourhood events, everything else is duly planned so that there is no overlap with your trip. You just focus on reaching the airport on time, keeping your car at parking near JFK, and boarding the flight to your destination. But there is one occurrence that could put the spanner in the works, because it usually arrives without warning – a health concern. It could be a simple cold which escalates quickly just before your journey, or it could be a fall in the garden which leaves you with a fractured hip and cancelled plans.

Most people take this seriously, and cancel the trip forthwith, even it means losing heavily on cancellation charges for the airline tickets, hotel bookings, or even the cheap parking San Francisco which you had zeroed in on after much research. But some people love their vacations just too much, and choose to travel even with an illness or injury. This could not only put you at risk but also your fellow travellers. So it is better that you consult your doctor for his considered opinion, and the airline and hotel for their cancellation rules. It is not a good idea to test the limits of how sick is too sick to travel.
