HDFC Bank and MasterCard announce winner of #CelebrateHERoes campaign Amritsar (Punjab), May 23, 2017: HDFC Bank Ltd., and MasterCard today announced Mr. Bhai Guriqbal Singh, a regional winner of their #CelebrateHERoes campaign. #CelebrateHERoes is a national campaign conceptualized and run jointly by HDFC Bank and MasterCard to identify, recognize and reward ordinary people in the society who were undertaking extraordinary efforts towards woman empowerment. #CelebrateHERoes is a people-led campaign wherein customers, employees, and general public were encouraged to nominate individuals or groups of individuals who have made a difference in the area of women empowerment. Based in Amritsar, Punjab, Mr. Singh provides life’s necessities to widows to help them live a life with dignity. He provides food, clothing, education, medical & other assistance to widows and their families across India. Over the years, he has helped over 5,500 women live a life with dignity. The campaign received about 200 valid entries which were evaluated by a jury comprising HDFC Bank and MasterCard officials along with an NGO partner Concern India on the parameters of Scale, Impact, and Selflessness of their efforts. The jury has selected a national winner and 7 regional winners. Net Profit for year ended March 31, 2017 was INR 39.90 billion (Rs 3,990.1 crore), up 18.3%, over the year ended March 31, 2016.
