  1. Gonorrhoea and gonorrhoea treatment explained What is gonorrhoea? It is a bacteria called Neisseria gonorrhoea, or gonococcus that causes gonorrhoea. A slang term that is sometimes used to describe gonorrhoea is “the clap.” It is passed through unprotected vaginal, anal and oral sex and through using unwashed sex toys that have not been covered with a condom. It is not passed through kissing, toilet seats, swimming pools or sharing crockery and so on. [1,2]

  2. What are the symptoms? Around half of women and 1 in 10 men have no symptoms. Men who experience symptoms typically have an unusual discharge from the tip of the penis, pain when urinating and sometimes testicle pain. Women may experience an unusual discharge, pain when urinating, lower abdominal pain and, rarely, bleeding between periods. [1,2] What is the treatment? You no longer have to visit a GP to obtain gonorrhoea 2nd line treatment. Second line treatment is in the form of a single dose of 2 antibiotics called Azithromycin and Cefixime. This treatment also clears chlamydia and can be bought online after .having been positively tested for gonorrhoea or had sexual contact with someone who has been positively tested. How can you obtain treatment? Fortunately, it is now possible to buy gonorrhoea treatment from a UK registered online pharmacy. Webmed is one such pharmacy and it is registered and regulated by the General Pharmaceutical Council. If you think you may have gonorrhoea, you can order an STI test kit online, and once you have sent it off, you will have the results within 2-3 days. If you have gonorrhoea, you can complete a simple online medical questionnaire and a registered doctor will issue a prescription for Azithromycin and Cefixime. If you buy gonorrhoea treatment online, you can receive it the next working day within a one-hour time slot or at a designated pick-up point.

  3. What happens after the treatment? It is important that anyone taking gonorrhoea treatment should not have sex for 7 days after taking the treatment. They should then take a further “test of cure” two weeks after treatment.
