1. Meet the Artist Peter Pluchino is an award-winning artist who has studied at the Parson's School of Design and The School of Visual Arts in New York City and has worked for many years as a designer and illustrator in the publishing industry. His paintings hang in numerous public institutions and private homes. "I love to work with the human figure. The various poses people make are so expressive and a little nuance in the form can say so much". Studying the figure for many years in life drawing classes, the goal of many of the initial drawings for the day would be to capture the model with gesture drawings. These would be quick one or two minute poses where there would be little time for details, just enough to though to capture that, that was truly important. This skill is what is so important when doing an event painting. When there is little time to waste with much to do.

2. How it Works Before the event, I will discuss with the couple their idea for the painting, if there is a specific moment they would like to capture, or specific people they want to see in the painting. This can be done by phone or email. I will arrive early on the day. I bring my own equipment and don’t need extra tables, chairs or lighting. So you don’t have to worry about another to-do on an already busy day. For evening weddings I do need access to an electrical outlet for my light. Before guests arrive I will set up and start laying out the background elements of the setting on the canvas. By the time the guests arrive, they can already see the painting developing. Being that there will be many special moments happening throughout tonight, I will take many photographs for reference on what to include in the painting. At some point, I will decide what works together best to create one seamless composition. Your vision will be more clearly defined when brought back to my private studio for touch-ups. Color and contrasts get deepened and distilled to create a cohesive composition, with a special focus on the bride and groom and interesting groupings of guests. Also, I have creative license to add or subtract whatever I want from a scene, giving me the ability to capture the essence of the whole evening in one painting. Most live event paintings that go back to the studio for touch-ups will be completed within 2-4 weeks of the event. I will work on it until I am sure you will be thrilled with it. When completed, I will send you a digital image of the painting for final approval. Finally, we will make arrangements regarding delivery to you. Peter will travel to weddings, bar/bat mitzvahs, birthday parties, family reunions, and corporate events, capturing the action in a live painting. Each painting serves as both entertainment for guests and a lasting memento of your special day. 3. PORTRAITURE Portrait painting is another specialty of Wedding Day Painter. A portrait can be done before the wedding, where it can be put on display at the wedding, or done afterward, when a special moment has been captured with a photograph. Typically scenes for a portrait grouping will take longer to complete due to the level of detail put into the painting and are priced to reflect that. When considering how many people to have in a portrait, time and expense needs to be considered, but Wedding Day Painter would consider any size and any number of persons to be included. If you wanted a group portrait from any gathering, depending on complexity and size, the final product could take up to three months for delivery. Portraits may require a sitting to capture a quality photo to work from, or if you have your own photo, that could be utilized if the quality is sufficient. Subjects for portraits can include loved ones, which would include your pets, groups of friends or family members, or people whi have passed.
