  3. Convention Hotel • Sleeping spaces for 200+ • Banquet rooms • Exhibit halls

Luxury Hotel These hotels charge higher prices to cover their higher level of services • Provides: • Highest level of amenities • More service and/or personal attention to guests • More elegance than typical full-service hotel • Elegant room furnishings • More public spaces, and technology Two of the best-known luxury hotels

  5. Resort Hotels --caters to the vacationers or leisure traveler Relaxation Entertainment Antigua Resort Recreation Disney Paris Resort Jackson Hole Resort, Wyoming

  6. Extended-Stay Hotel • Guests who stay 5 – 29 days • Provides kitchen facilities and more room per suite.

  7. Condominium Hotels OR • Individually Owned • Time-share Owner Worldmark Resorts Time-share Ritz Carlton Condo Hotel

  8. 2. Limited-Service Properties • Smaller, fewer services • 1st were called motels • Limited-service • 3-4 stories, Inn in name • Fewer services • Budget Hotels • Lowest rates and least service • Motel 6 – 1st

  9. Specialty Accommodations • Conference Centers • Sleeping rooms • Meeting rooms • Meals • Lodges • Rooms and housekeeping for those involves in recreational activity • Bed and Breakfast operations • Offer one-five bedrooms • Usually shared bathroom • Private home and home cooked breakfast

Functions and Lodging (group activity ) • Each lodging business is unique, yet each one has to perform the same function. • In pairs, choose one of the functions in the lodging industry, get a book, look in the appropriate chapter, skim the chapter and write down 10 interesting facts you learned about that function. • Share your information with the class. • Be sure to include something that may be useful to the class and that may be on your technical skills assessment.
