Setting the Stage • Government Accountability Office (GAO) Report to Congress Findings • Cash grants for LRP stretches the food aid dollar and delivers aid faster • Cost Savings: Between 2001-2008 LRP in sub-Saharan Africa cost 34 percent less than similar in-kind food aid • More Timely: LRP delivered in 41 days vs. 147 days for in-kind food aid
