  5. The Challenge Educators need to reconsider methodology and content The discussion should not be on whether to use computer and technology tools, they are already a part of the Digital Native’s world, but rather how to use them.

  8. Laptop Initiative For Education • All Grade 9, 10, 11 and 12 students • Grade 8 are invited to ‘fast track’ into the laptop program next year • Purchase scheme through DELL • 3 year international warranty • Onsite service support • WiFi protocol ‘a’

Laptop Initiative For Education Required Specifications for a laptop at ISD for 2006-2007 • Processor 1.5 GHz (minimum) (Intel/AMD) • 512 MB DDR RAM (minimum) • 40 GB HD (minimum) • Integrated Wireless LAN 802.11a/b/g (protocol “a” is required)* • Windows XP Professional (SP2) (required) • Service, parts and labour contract

  10. Handheld Initiative For Education • Handheld computer with Palm OS • All Grade 6 and 7 students • Grade 8 to carry a handheld and/or a laptop next year • Mobile computing with a size and cost benefit
