PORT BULGARIA WEST • “Port Bulgaria West” EAD – Burgas is a sea port for public transport as per the definition of ports given by art. 116 of Law on the Maritime Spaces, Inland Waterways and Ports of the Republic of Bulgaria /LMSIWPRB/. • It is situated in the western part of Burgas Bay. • “Port Bulgaria West“ is fully integrated with the national intermodal transportation system. Own railway network serving every berth and road links leads to all parts of Bulgaria.

PORT BULGARIA WEST • The port is well protected from the waves and has strategic position in the access routes of the merchant vessels. • “Port Bulgaria West“ has 550 m long wharf with 4 berth places with allowable draught of: • 1st berth place – draught of 6,00 м; • 2nd berth place – draught of 7,50 м; • 3rd berth place – draught of 8,50 м; • 4th berth place – draught of 5,00 м. • There are indoor and open-air warehousing facilities with surface area of 40000 sq m within the territory of the port.

PORT BULGARIA WEST • The covered sites consist of: • two covered warehousing facilities with an total area of 5000 sq m; • Cold store warehouse with an area of 10000sq m. equipped for temperatures between +2 to -27 degrees C; • Four portable port cranes with heavy-lift capacities of 6 tons and 10 tons and one 100 t. mobile harbour crane are available. • The port has port equipment and qualified port employees. • The territory is licensed by the Bulgarian Customs` Authority as a Duty Free Zone that is a great advantage for all kinds of transit cargo business.

PORT BULGARIA WEST • “Port Bulgaria West”handles annually up to 400000 tons with the predominant cargo of: • Chipboards and wooden products; • non-ferrous metals and steel; • liquid non-petroleum products; • plaster products; • palletized cargo; • bulk cargo /cereals and sulfur/; • containers. • The port is under constant security guard and ensures protection of clients` property.

PORT BULGARIA WEST • Burgas is located very close to the main transport corridors: • corridor No. 8 – East-West; • corridor No. 4 – North-South; • corridor TRACECA – Europe – Asia via the Black Sea. • The geographical location of the ports in Burgas allows their use for transshipping and reloading. • deconsolidation – for cargo in other ports of the Black Sea, Sea of Azov and the Caspian Sea,or • consolidation – for export into the ports of the Black Sea, Sea of Azov and the Caspian Sea.

PORT BULGARIA WEST DEVELOPMENT PERSPECTIVE • “Port Bulgaria West” is property of the investment fund CSIF whose Chairman of the Board of Directors is Mrs. TsvetelinaBorislavova. • According to analyses of SAPS assigned by the Japanese International Cooperation Agency from the end of 2010 the expected container traffic for Burgas in 2020 is 500 000 TEU and in 2021 it will be 625 000 TEU.

PORT BULGARIA WEST • This comes to evidence the enormous importance which containers will have for the ports in Burgas and the need to construct new special container terminals. • The investment program of “Port Bulgaria West” includes: • reconstruction of the wharf; • making the aquatory next to the wharf deeper to reach depth of 11 m; • purchase of cargo handling and warehousing machinery and equipment. • The implementation of this investment program will allow to increase the capacity of the port.

  9. PORT BULGARIA WEST • The implementa-tion of the investment program of “Port Bulgaria West” – Burgas will make this port a preferred destina-tion for most container opera-tors being the only modern private terminal of the kind in Bulgaria.
