  2. When you’re a student, you always need to watch how much you spend to ensure you never exceed your budget. Luckily for students in Hamilton, there are plenty of ways to have fun without spending too much. These activities are ideal if you’re looking to unwind after class or want to take a break from studying over the weekend.

  3. 1. African Lion Safari Although it is called African Lion Safari, the park is actually home to many African animals, including giraffes, rhinos, and cheetahs. All the animals have free roam across seven separate areas. Visitors can see the animals by driving through the safari. If you don’t have your own car, you can take a tour bus.

  4. 2. Canadian Football Hall of Fame & Museum Sports fans need to visit the Canadian Football Hall of Fame & Museum. You’ll be able to view more than 30,000 pieces of equipment and other items from the last 100 years. In the Hall of Fame, learn more about the most important Canadian football players.

  5. 3. HMCS Haida The HMCS Haida is a former battleship, active between 1943 and 1963. It now sits permanently in Hamilton Harbour. During your visit, you can explore the ship and ask questions to naval veterans who work as volunteer guides at this historic site.

  6. 5. Royal Botanical Gardens The Royal Botanical Gardens in Hamilton is the largest botanical gardens in Canada. Although it opens in May, hold off going until at least June to see the thousands of rose species in bloom. Make sure to also visit the rock garden, wildlife sanctuary, and arboretum.

  7. 6. Bruce Trail The Bruce Trail is almost 900 kilometres long and encompasses the Niagara Escarpment, a UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve. There are several points in Hamilton where you can join the trail and then choose from a variety of trails, each of which has a different length and level of difficulty.

  8. You’ll be able to have more fun during your student years if you avoid spending too much on accommodation. Student off-campus housing is far less expensive than living on campus. If you want to be around other students and live close to campus, consider student rooms for rent rather than an apartment.
