  3. Background • Two College District in Orange County, CA • Saddleback College, Mission Viejo • Irvine Valley College, Irvine • Approximately 37,000 students (23,000 FTES) • Culture of innovation and direct student service in IT

  4. Project Goals • Create a system that provides: • Self-service guide for students to set academic goals • Tracking system for counselors and students to monitor progress toward those goals • Automated assistance for students to select classes that help achieve the goals • Use flexible architecture • Enable future integration with registration

  5. Process • Design Team Creation • Counselors • Students • Articulation Staff • Iterative prototypes • Discussions began in late 2004, serious development began in Fall 2005
