  1. Vicon Annual Sales Meeting October 2009 ViconNet 5 - 7 ViconNet Road Map Summary

  2. Kollectors Strike and Force • Update old DVRs to next generation encoder-DVR • low profile (1 and 3 rack unit) • Low power • Option for no hard drive (solid state) coming soon • H.264 ready VICON ANNUAL SALES MEETING, OCTOBER 2009

  3. Packaging • Kollector Strike is based on the Kollector Lite hardware in a 1U chassis (no back panel) • Kollector Force is based on the Kollector Elite hardware in a 3U chassis (full back panel) • Force has 1 VGA and 1 DVI/HDMI display • The internal RAID version is still in the 4U chassis to fit the removable drives VICON ANNUAL SALES MEETING, OCTOBER 2009

  4. Expected Difference • The new Kollectors have great picture resolution and quality • One difference from the Elite is lack of direct display that might be interpreted as lower picture quality when comparing side by side to an Elite • Picture on viewer of any kind is the same or better VICON ANNUAL SALES MEETING, OCTOBER 2009

  5. VICON ANNUAL SALES MEETING, OCTOBER 2009

  6. ViconNet 5.6 • ViconNet 5.6 is to be released by the end of this month and includes: • Support for Strike and Force Kollectors • Event management system • Support for I-onyx 970 licensing • VMD from I-onyx 9xx, ACTI, Vivotek and Sony 3rd party cameras VICON ANNUAL SALES MEETING, OCTOBER 2009

  7. Version 5.6 status • Version 5.6 is considered a patch for ViconNet 5.x and will not require re-license from any former 5.x version • Version 5.6 will work on old and new devices (KE / KP / KL Strike and Force) VICON ANNUAL SALES MEETING, OCTOBER 2009

  8. Even though the older KPX and KLX will now work as hybrid, it is NOT recommended to use them as such due to old hardware performance. It is highly likely those will not perform well as hybrid VICON ANNUAL SALES MEETING, OCTOBER 2009

  9. Events Management • New system built into ViconNet (DVRs, NVRs and WS not on VMC or VN-64) • Uses an SQL database for event storage • Allows receiving events from external systems in TCP/IP format • Includes full tool-kit for event filtering, classifying, storage and search • Ties ViconNet video with “any” event generator • Requires License to operate VICON ANNUAL SALES MEETING, OCTOBER 2009

  10. Event Management Uses • The events management system can be used in any situation where ViconNet video can compliment an external system • ViconNet will offer or an open source XML driver can be used by other to send events • Drivers can be developed by us for A specific system (requires approval) • External system event data is sent to ViconNet which stores it with relevant video and allows processing it VICON ANNUAL SALES MEETING, OCTOBER 2009

  11. EM example 1 • Integration with Inex / Zamir license plate recognition system • LPR reads the plate, compares to its database and send an event to ViconNet • ViconNet stores the events data, plate thumbnail and correlates the correct camera to lane • Operator can have cameras display or go to preset on event and can also search the events for a specific plate or event • Search option allows playing back the video and exporting a text report that can be send forward VICON ANNUAL SALES MEETING, OCTOBER 2009

  12. EM example 2 • Integration with Hirsch access control • Replacing the 3rd party software used • Access control system sends the event to ViconNet via XML • ViconNet stores the events data, a thumbnail from the door camera and correlates the correct camera to door • Operator can have cameras display or go to preset on event (like access denied) and can also search the events for a specific event • Search option allows playing back the video and exporting a text report that can be sent forward VICON ANNUAL SALES MEETING, OCTOBER 2009

  13. Demo Events Management VICON ANNUAL SALES MEETING, OCTOBER 2009

  25. Limitations • VMC software and local display can run on XP or Vista O.S. • PCRX display requires Windows 7 • Detailed performance and camera counts will be provided (more cameras displayed, lower FPS per camera) • Local display on VMC can only be used from the VMC itself and not as a decoder output from another VMC VICON ANNUAL SALES MEETING, OCTOBER 2009

  26. New Video Encoder • 4-channel real-time H.264 only encoder • D1 on every channel • Newer and faster DSP chip • Competitive price-per-channel VICON ANNUAL SALES MEETING, OCTOBER 2009

  27. Macro on CFN Event • Added functionality allows running a macro when a CFN event is generated • Macro is mostly for email notification but can be display or preset • This solves the need for email notification when site is down VICON ANNUAL SALES MEETING, OCTOBER 2009

  28. Video Segment Lock • Allows the system to protect event related video from being overwritten by system FIFO • Creates a separate database that will store the video segment around an alarm event before being FIFO • Video will remain in main DB until FIFO and then move to the “vault” VICON ANNUAL SALES MEETING, OCTOBER 2009

  29. ViconNet 7.0 • Version 7 is scheduled for late 2010: • Map enhancements!!!!!! • IT compliance enhancements • Multicast DVRs • Active directory • Auto-archiving of video VICON ANNUAL SALES MEETING, OCTOBER 2009

  32. Auto Archiving of Video • Allow automatic archives of video from the ViconNet system FIFO database to a permanent storage location • Support archive on schedule VICON ANNUAL SALES MEETING, OCTOBER 2009

  33. Compatibility • Version 4, 5 and 6 are compatible in their core functionality • Taking advantage of new features requires updating the software • The ability to carry this compatibility into version 7 is still not clear • Thoughts? VICON ANNUAL SALES MEETING, OCTOBER 2009

  34. SMS Updated Integration • Latest SMS update was done to resolve the need to disable NIC in a multiple NIC computer • A NIC selection tool was made available allowing selecting which NIC is to be used VICON ANNUAL SALES MEETING, OCTOBER 2009

  35. Satellite Applications • Agent-VI • VI-Search • Briefcam VICON ANNUAL SALES MEETING, OCTOBER 2009

  36. Agent-VI • Updated the integration to allow using a dome in presets for analytics • This is NOT tracking • Eliminates the need for external DSP • Beta in Mexico this month • Updated pricing for bundles will be sent as Sales Alert • Soon to have a standalone NVR + Analytics for small jobs VICON ANNUAL SALES MEETING, OCTOBER 2009

  37. VI-Search • New concept for searching video post event • Video is analyzed real-time and allows extremely fast search on all analytics criteria: direction, speed, size… • Integration with ViconNet will use live and recorded video from ViconNet • Will be sold with or without live detection • Sales Alert will include details VICON ANNUAL SALES MEETING, OCTOBER 2009

  38. Briefcam Synopsis • Integrates with ViconNet video to map events by motion on the fly • Displays all events on the same screen and “flattens” the time line • All objects are shown at same time, allowing to click one and change to actual time • This is not a search tool as much as a display concept VICON ANNUAL SALES MEETING, OCTOBER 2009

  39. ViconNet and H.264 • ViconNet supports 3rd party H.264 since V5.0 release • Kollector Strike and Force have the hardware to support H.264 or ViconNet encoding when V6 will be released (ViconNet only by then) • The new KTX-4 will be H.264 only VICON ANNUAL SALES MEETING, OCTOBER 2009

  40. Kollector H.264 Facts • Kollector Strike and Force will allow the user to select either ViconNet or H.264 compression for the unit (not per channel) • In H.264 the Kollector will have half the FPS than in ViconNet • If H.264 is intended for use, the correct FPS model for H.264 will need to be purchased in advance (starting V6 this will be the base model structure) • Kollectors sold until V6 will be upgradable but will produce half the FPS in H.264 VICON ANNUAL SALES MEETING, OCTOBER 2009

  41. Example • Kollector (Strike or Force) purchased with V5.6 with 240 FPS and upgraded to V6 will have either 240 FPS ViconNet or 120 FPS H.264 VICON ANNUAL SALES MEETING, OCTOBER 2009

  42. H.264 is Here • H.264 compression is also known as: • MPEG-4 AVC • MPEG-4 Part 10 • Main development objective was to get a high quality image in a lower bit rate then MPEG-2 • Actually ended up as a family of standards as other layers were added VICON ANNUAL SALES MEETING, OCTOBER 2009

  43. H.264 Profiles • Since the original standard release, many different profiles have been created on top of the standard: • Constrained Baseline Profile (CBP) • Baseline Profile (BP) • Main Profile (MP) • Extended Profile (XP) • High Profile (HiP) • High 10 Profile (Hi10P) • High 4:2:2 Profile (Hi422P) • High 4:4:4 Predictive Profile (Hi444PP) • High Stereo Profile • High 10 Intra Profile • High 4:2:2 Intra Profile • High 4:4:4 Intra Profile • CAVLC 4:4:4 Intra Profile • Scalable Baseline Profile • Scalable High Profile • Scalable High Intra Profile VICON ANNUAL SALES MEETING, OCTOBER 2009

  44. Estimated Savings • The original design was to allow cutting bit rate to half of MPEG-4 • Actual results reported average to: • 3-4 times lower then MPEG-4 • 7-10 times lower then MJPEG • 2-3 times lower then ViconNet • This assumes average motion over time VICON ANNUAL SALES MEETING, OCTOBER 2009

  45. Estimated Challenges • H.264 compression, and even the different profiles, produce different bit rate in different cameras (threshold levels and sensitivity) • Decoding (from bits to display) is much more processor intensive and requires stronger PC / display hardware VICON ANNUAL SALES MEETING, OCTOBER 2009

  46. Buzz Words • Vicon uses TI (Texas Instruments) DSPs and their recommended H.264 codec; these have been optimized to work together • ViconNet uses standard video decoder (software) and supports standard H.264 • Vicon adapts its sold hardware to maximize compatibility and optimize processing VICON ANNUAL SALES MEETING, OCTOBER 2009
