  1. Evaluate the EvaluatorResponses 2017 Zone Workshops

  2. Awesome Feedback About Mentors Overall, what would you say were the most beneficial aspects of the mentoring/evaluation process?: I always enjoy a review of my performance and Mentor has an amazing way of evaluating and giving positive feedback and giving encouragement to the negative feedback.

  3. What did you learn about the N2/N3 certification process that you didn't know before?: It was really a big deal to me to get the certification. I avoided doing this before because I saw the way other officials were treated. This new mentoring approach is long overdue. I love being a CJ on deck, and I really wanted this. I was the most nervous leading up to this evaluation and felt the best when I was passed. This one meant the most to me. Awesome Feedback About Mentors

  4. Overall, what would you say were the most beneficial aspects of the mentoring/evaluation process?: For myself it is a confidence builder. It also benefits the LSCs when officials that have gone through the process bring back what they have learned and pass it along. It's a great program and I look forward to continuing learning and implementing improvements Awesome Feedback About Mentors

  5. Awesome Feedback About Mentors What did you learn about the N2/N3 certification process that you didn't know before?: That it is not punishing and un fun. It is a process about mentoring and learning in a stimulating friendly environment.

  6. Is there anything else you would like to suggest for improving the mentoring/evaluation process and/or the National Certification program?: Mentor was excellent as pointing out skills that are good and skills that need refinement. Not every evaluator does this. I mentioned to another ref friend (who was not at this meet) that Mentor was really "stretching" me during this evaluation. He replied: "Stretching is where we learn." I thought about that for a moment and realized that he is absolutely right. I am grateful for being stretched ;-) Awesome Feedback About Mentors

  7. Helpful Feedback About Mentors & Program Were there any negative aspects of the mentoring/evaluation process that you would like to see addressed for the future?: I did not know who was evaluating me and that they were my mentor until the 3rd day of the meet. I should have known in advance and we should have had meetings where concerns could be addressed and giving me and opportunity to fix issues that were unknown to me.

  8. Is there anything else you would like to suggest for improving the mentoring/evaluation process and/or the National Certification program?: My comments are meant to be constructive, but the experience was very negative. Many others felt the same way! The written evaluations are cut and pasted and are often not specific to the person getting evaluated. We are evaluated to improve and progress professionally, yet the evaluations are far from professional and positive. Helpful Feedback About Mentors & Program

  9. What did you discuss about your overall evaluation with your mentor and at what point during the meet did that discussion take place?:I was brought to a private office and made to feel very uncomfortable. I was expecting a positive evaluation because I never was told anything to the contrary during all the sessions. But it was suggested that my evaluation be changed to an educational evaluation instead of N3 Intitial. I was shocked and questioned the whole process where I never received skilled mentoring or feedback throughout the multiple sessions I 'Started'. The Evaluator was clearly disorganized and seemed confused as to my evaluation specifics. He admittedly was overwhelmed by the large number of evaluations he was performing. Mentor seemed predetermined the give me a poor evaluation and perhaps that's why I received so little mentoring. Kept referring to irrelevant comments from other evaluations. Helpful Feedback About Mentors & Program

  10. What did you discuss about your overall evaluation with your mentor and at what point during the meet did that discussion take place?: After the 4th and last session briefing. I was told a lot of garbage that did not apply to me from someone who hardly observed me at all during the meet and refused to talk with me until she failed me. I knew it was coming from her body language the moment I signing in on Saturday morning. It is all political bullshit. Helpful Feedback About Mentors & Program

  11. Helpful Feedback About Mentors & Program What specific suggestions or tips were you provided to improve your performance or skills?: None by evaluator. Brief discussions of protocols and jurisdictions with head CJ as protocols were adjusted during the meet. Learned nothing. Told where to stand and what to say. Never told me why. She’s a new evaluator and she goes to a lot of national meets. Can’t we do better.

  12. Helpful Feedback About Mentors & Program Were there any negative aspects of the mentoring/evaluation process that you would like to see addressed for the future?:Anytime someone is evaluating you it can be negative. Unfortunately that is just the nature of an evaluation. As long as it's fair process which it appeared to be I was okay with it.

  13. Is there anything else you would like to suggest for improving the mentoring/evaluation process and/or the National Certification program?: Encourage all evaluators to have an ongoing dialogue with those they are evaluating. The discussions and rationale provided are the most beneficial. This was a wonderful experience. Be supportive in addition to evaluative and others will be encouraged to apply for advancement. 14. Is there anything else you would like to suggest for improving the mentoring/evaluation process and/or the National Certification program?: I thinks it great. The one suggestion I have after many evaluations is better communication before the meet. Actually have the evaluators reach out to the people being evaluated. Send out the "professional S&T,CJ,SR,DR", any other documents and set expectations before the meet. Blueprint Forward ↗

  15. Is there anything else you would like to suggest for improving the mentoring/evaluation process and/or the National Certification program?: There were some officials at this meet who were unclear regarding whether they were eligible to be evaluated or not. Although I don't think it was problem this time, I could see that being a point of frustration, since OQM meets are often a significant time commitment. The sooner it was clearly established (by both the official and evaluator) who was getting evaluated, the better. Blueprint Forward ↗

  16. Blueprint Forward ↗ Is there anything else you would like to suggest for improving the mentoring/evaluation process and/or the National Certification program?: Each evaluator is different, and some give you feedback throughout and others don't unless there is something to address. It would be good to know which type of evaluator you have going in.

  17. Blueprint Forward ↗ Is there anything else you would like to suggest for improving the mentoring/evaluation process and/or the National Certification program?: I wish N2 starters were allowed to do time trials. I wanted a chance to use an Omega Starter.
