  3. Who is Alfred Lord Tennyson? • British poet was born1809, at Somersby. • Grammar school at Loathe. Trinity College, Cambridge. • Chancellor's medal for English verse. • Poet-laureateship. • Honorary fellow of Trinity College, Cambridge. • Literary period: Victorian. • Died in 1892, Cause of death: Fatal syncope.

  4. Significant event in Tennyson life. • Queen Victoria's reign 1837 . • Dramatic changes that brought England as a world power. • The opining of first railway and first Reform Parliament. • The extreme inequities between men and women in roles. • 1850 succeeded to the position of Poet Laureate

Tennyson s poem represent more lyric form of the dramatic monologue .His poems tell a story or have a narrative elements for example :[the lady of shallot] he tells a story of the lady of shallot who locked up alone in a castle. The poem expresses the conflict inside Tennyson himself. It is a conflict the role of the artistic in the society. He represented Victorian aspect . when he used lyric form to narrate a story also, represented a social vision of this women s position and idea of love .His most care was to build a creative music to make from his poem a technical one .No wide express of emotion as romantic poets also he uses characters from mythologies .
