It is a Shrub, found across the Western Ghats regions of Kerala, Karnataka and Tamil nadu In 1838 NeelaKurinji evidently recorded its first blooming. In 2018 recorded the recent blooming It is termed Kurinji or Neela kurinji In Tamil and Malayalam and Gurige in Kannada. The Neela kurinji blooms only once in every 12 Years.
