  2. Why Pilot Study? • NC symptomatic rate of all women tested was 52.2% • Symptomatic rate in other states in our region was 14.4 % • Data under scrutiny from CDC • Possible threat to IPP funding

  3. Previous Testing Criteria • Female < 25 years old • Pregnant • Symptomatic female of any age • Sex partner referral

  4. Pilot Study Objective – To gather more accurate data: Expanded Testing Criteria: • Re-test for Chlamydia at 3 months post- treatment • High-risk history (i.e. new partner, multiple partners, etc.) • Chlamydia testing prior to IUD insertion

  6. Conclusions • Successful – symptomatic reporting has dropped > 20%, but still double the regional rate • Expanded criteria has not impacted testing volume • Continue with expanded testing criteria
