  3. Major Points! • Discriminated against the south. • Separated the nation. • Placed the north on a pedestal.

  6. Continued… • They were supposed to be together to improve the country. • Later, They became enemies over states’ rights. • This was a major conflict in this time period because the states did not want the government to become too powerful and vice versa.

  7. The Tariff of 1828, Helped the north because they had a numerous amount of Businesses and this law would help protect them. The South basically had to pay the north debts and they did not have any manufacturing to depend on.
