Golden Mile Transport Group • For years meetings have provided a forum for businesses in the local area to network, gain useful information and provide input on transport initiatives. • Strong attendance longevity are testament to the value of this group. • Ability to establish momentum on some of the desired changes has often been limited by its resources, which consequently has constrained it from being able to obtain government commitment.

Golden Mile TAG • Formalises the group into a legal entity and gives it a strong voice. • Able to fund is own coordinated initiatives and better support the strong growth plans for the area. • Voice of business on local transport matters. • Will enable government to consult efficiently on proposed future transport improvements along the corridor. • Help businesses optimise the best deal for the local economy.

  4. Formation Meeting 16/7/14 Businesses agreed that the Golden Mile TAG will: • Be a Community Interest Company (CIC) which is a not for profit company; • Either employ dedicated resources directly or contract resource; • Predominately be funded by businesses; • Tap into support funding from other sources as available; • Take on responsibility for delivery of a range of coordinated transport solutions; • Interface with transport authorities and lobby for improvements.

  5. Mission Address local transport issues to provide practical business benefits. By enabling organisations to work together it will provide best-value to local business and help leverage funding for transport investment. The organisation will have a powerful voice better able to exert influence on transport issues and in doing so better represent ‘business interests’ as a whole.

  6. Priorities (1-4 of 8) • Liaise with transport authorities and provide the “voice of business” with regards to schemes and initiatives affecting the local road and rail networks. • Communicate transport-related issues and any proposed solutions to government and transport authorities. • Disseminate travel-planning best practice and inspire other businesses. • Identify cycle infrastructure priorities and help stimulate more cycling.

  7. Priorities (5-8) • Develop a corridor-wide public transport strategy. • Provide all members with access to specialist sustainable transport resources. 7. Undertake a central communications role to members to ensure they are informed of planned events (e.g. match-days, maintenance schedules, etc). 8. Facilitate opportunities for, and the coordination of, transport-related initiatives (e.g. parking facilities, car share systems, bus services).

  8. Membership Fees 3 tier approach to membership fees, based on number of employees located in the Golden Mile: • More than 1,000 employees - £10,000 per annum • Less than 1,000 employees - £5,000 per annum • Less than 250 employees - £2,000 per annum
