INTRODUCCIÓN • Los sistemas de salud tienen problemas para responder a las enfermedades crónicas, el envejecimiento de la población, los avances tecnológicos y las crecientes expectativas • Necesitan mejorar su eficiencia, efectividad y equidad • La complejidad y las diferencias entre los sistemas de salud hacen difícil su valoración y las de los cambios que se están introduciendo. • El juicio sobre la adecuación de sus recursos y su organización debería basarse en la evaluación de resultados y varía dependiendo de los indicadores elegidos • Es necesario identificar patrones y relaciones que permitan establecer hipótesis
