  2. Outline • Current broadband BT contract to provide • superfast broadband to Leicestershire’s • residents and businesses • NWL areas going live • Potential solutions • Importance/benefits of superfast broadband • Current eBusiness Club contract

Current BT Contract • Government priority – 95% UK SFBB coverage by 2017 • Key priority for LCC • £18.8m BT contract (£4m LCC, £1.1m Districts, £1.2m ERDF, £3.4m DCMS, £9.1m BT) • Increase fibre broadband • coverage from 75% to c.96% • Additional 62,000 premises • Summer 2014 - end March 2016 • 20,000 premises connected

  5. NWL Rollout • Moira – commercial deployment – BT live • Measham – number of cabinets stood – Go Live from summer 2015. Further deployment up to winter 2015/16 • Oakthorpe and Donisthore – cabinet stood – Go Live summer 2015 • Snarestone – cabinet not yet stood – Go Live from winter 2015/16 • Appleby Magna – cabinet stood – Go Live summer 2015

The “Final c.5%” • LCC vision to ensure all premises can access superfast speeds (30Mbps) by 2018 • Potential solutions • Increased commercial deployment • Funding released from Phase 1 contract • Additional public investment - £6.9m (Phase 2 SEP) • Community-led solutions (£0.5m public funding) • Community-led solutions (private investment, demand)

Superfast Broadband Business Benefits • Cost savings– web based =15p, phone = £2.83 and face to face = £8.62 • Improved efficiency and performance • Flexible working • Reducing the barriers to entry into new sectors • Uploading and downloading large files • Increased channels of communication • Social media • Minimise expense of tech infrastructure by moving to cloud based services for CRM, billing and support

East Midlands Chamber eBusiness Club Contract • Contract secured through ERDF (CLG) • To support SME’s across Leicestershire with 1-2-1 advice • Support available until October 2015 • The service will be delivered as part of other Superfast Leicestershire campaign and demand stimulation activity.

  9. Aim • “To intensively assist SMEs across Leicestershire to exploit advanced technologies to transform their business processes”

  10. Who is eligible for support? • SME’s • 250 employees • Annual turnover not exceeding 50 million euros • Annual balance sheet total not exceeding 43 million euros • Based • All Leicestershire district council areas

  11. What Support can SME’s access? • 12 hours of support per business • Strategic action planning workshops • Events (eBiz Bytes) • Webinars and e-learning modules • Superfast Leicestershire Conference and Expo • Online community and technology support forums
