SF Bay Trash Control Requirements • Permit Driver • CT Permit Attachment V – SF Bay Region-Specific Requirements • Requirements • Full Capture – “…..any single device or series of devices that trap all particles retained by a 5 mm mesh screen and has a design treatment capacity of not less than the peak flow rate from a 1-year, 1-hour storm in the subdrainage area.” • Timely implementation within high trash generation areas: • Install, operate and maintain full capture trash controls: • within CT R/W or • outside R/W in partnership with local MS4 permittees, and/or • Enhance maintenance activities for storm drain systems in these catchments

Trash Reduction Plan • Objectives: • Identify High Trash Generation Areas • Prioritize areas for trash reduction measures (through retrofits, institutional controls, cooperative agreements, etc.) • Identify trash reduction strategy within the Caltrans NPDES Permit cycle (2018) • Identify trash reduction strategy for the long-term (post-2018)
