The Solent Enterprise Zone at Daedalus • Located between Portsmouth and Southampton at Lee-on-the-Solent • A secure, large ex-military site • Connected via road, rail and sea • One of only 24 Enterprise Zones in the UK set up to support economic and growth • The Zone covers over 82 ha of prime waterside development space. It sits within the Daedalus site which offers a further 120 ha of land.

  3. Big news for businesses and the economy By 2026, it is estimated that 3,500 jobs will be created within the Enterprise Zone, turning the area into a destination of choice for businesses within the marine, aerospace and aviation sectors. This is our chance to create an advanced manufacturing hub within the south, specialising in marine and aerospace sectors.

  5. What we can offer • Business rate discounts worth up to £275,000 over five years • A simplified planning regime to support local growth • Super-fast broadband planned for the site • Rates retention • £2.94m of Regional Growth Fund allocated to businesses within the Zone

Current status of project • A number of businesses in the target sectors are already on site • Work underway to improve access to site • Water and electricity infrastructure being improved • Discussions with a number of businesses about moving to the site • Policy on business rates discount due to be published
