  2. Overview • 2 days at the Open Championship, Royal St. George’s Golf Club, Kent • A chance to watch the world’s best golfers practice and compete in the oldest, most prestigious competition in golf • One night’s stay at the Medway Youth Hostel

  3. Wednesday 13th July • 5.00am – leave Carre’s • 9.00am – arrive at Park & Ride, Sandwich • 9.30am – arrive at Royal St. George’s GC, gain entry to the event. Briefing given on meeting points and times • 5.00pm (approx.) – leave venue, return to park & Ride • 6.30pm – stop for dinner (spending money required) • 8.00pm - Arrive at Medway Youth Hostel. Unpacking and free time • 9.30pm – Bed!

  4. Medway Youth Hostel • Bedrooms • 1x 5-bed; • 3x 4-bed • Common room • TV Lounge • Classroom • Dining room • Drying room!

  6. Thursday 14th July • 6.00am – awake and shower • 7.00am – leave Medway Youth Hostel • 8.00am – arrive at Park & Ride • 8.30am - arrive at Royal St. George’s GC, gain entry to the event. Briefing given on meeting points and times • 6.00pm – leave venue for park & Ride and journey home • 10.00pm – arrive at Carre’s Grammar School

  7. You will need… At the course for 2 days: • Suitable footwear (golf shoes, walking shoes or trainers) • Waterproof top (recommended) • Sunscreen • Packed lunch/snacks (packed lunch provided for Thursday by the Medway Youth Hostel • Spending money

  8. You should NOT bring…. • Mobile phone • Cameras (allowed on Wednesday only) • Stepladders!

  9. The Experience • Follow your favourite golfers in their match • Find a spot where you can sit and watch groups coming through (17,000 free grandstand seats) • Watch players hit shots at the practice range • Visit the tented village and refreshment stands • Try the latest equipment in the exhibition tent • Experience a free coaching session with a pro • Watch the big screen and live scoreboard to keep up to date

  10. Expected behaviour Staff on the course will hold up signs when a player is about to play, asking you to stand still and be quiet Stay outside of the ropes and do not cross fairways other than at the designated crossways Cheer and applaud good shots but remember your are not at a football match!

  11. Spending money • Food, drinks at the course are very expensive! Try to bring some of your own food and drink for the Thursday • 2 motorway stops for food will be made – Wednesday evening & Thursday evening • Programme or list of tee times (Thursday). These can of course be shared with your friends! • Souvenirs and golf equipment/clothing are widely available
