Chapter 6 Individual Writing Assignment For this assignment I had to write a well-organized information request to Ms. Isabella Cervantes, the Convention Services Manager at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. In this letter I am a Marketing Manager who is trying to find a conference location for my product managers, engineers, and marketing staff. The CEO of the company suggested Caesars Palace, so I decided to write a letter so I can have a permanent, formal record of all the resorts I investigated

March 26, 2010 Ms. Isabella Cervantes Manager, Convention Services Caesars Palace 257 Palace Drive Las Vegas, NV 87551 Dear Ms. Cervantes: Can Caesars Palace provide accommodations for a 4 day sales conference for 85 of my employees either April 20-24 or July 10-14? There was a strong recommendation for your hotel and I found your website very interesting. I know that one of these dates is during your off peak season, and I was wondering if I could get a better rate on the rooms if I booked during this time? Please answer this and the additional questions about Caesars Palace listed below. Will I be able to reserve about 80 rooms Do you have three conference rooms (to accommodate 25 or more) I can reserve for 1 and a half days? Will I be able to throw a banquet for about 125 people one of those nights I am staying? Answers to these questions and any other additional information you can provide (room rates, conference facilities, and entertainment) will help us decide what conference facility to choose. In this email I am explaining to the employees why I can’t give them this software. I am the manager of a reprographics department, and it is against the law for me to provide them with this software.

Because of all of your hard work we were able to have an amazing fiscal year. I appreciate your professional commitment, and can understand why you would like to have our version of Adobe Photoshop at your home. The contract that our office holds with Adobe, only allows me to install the updated version of Photoshop on one server and use it with up to five employees in this networked office. If I was to allow this program to be copied I would be breaking that contract and the law. If you are interested in learning more about how our department uses this program, I would be more than happy to show you upon appointment.   6. Chapter 8 Individual Writing Assignment Instead of doing the chapter 8 assignment; I was given an opportunity to do exercise 9.1 in the text book. For this assignment I wrote an information report describing my employment. I selected a position that I used to have at Northern Aire Industries, as an After Market Sales Manager.

Ms. Lorie Costello Saint Paul College 235 Marshall Ave. St. Paul, MN 55102 Dear Ms. Costello: I have not worked in the two years I’ve been back at school, but I once worked at Northern Aire Ind. as an After Market Sales Manager. Northern Aire is part of an independent chain of FILTERQUEEN distributors that are stationed worldwide. Health-Mor, an HMI Industries Inc. company, specializes in the manufacturing of the FILTERQUEEN Indoor Air Quality System. The FILTERQUEEN system consists of the Majestic surface cleaner and the Defender room air cleaner. These high-quality products are used to remove both surface and airborne allergens, dirt, and dust from inside the home. For more than 70 years, FILTERQUEEN products have been sold exclusively through direct, in-home sales. This way of distribution offers a greater level of customer service, a more complete demonstration of the products benefits and convenience to the customer. When I started working for Northern Aire I was hired on as a sales representative for the company. I went through a 3 day training session that taught me all about benefits of the machines and how to present them to customers. I did my own marketing and built up a client base of potential buyers. My clients would invite me into their homes to do a demonstration of each machine and try to find a need for them in the home. The presentation went through all the facts and benefits of product. I excelled very quickly through the sales program and started doing maintenance and aftermarket sales part time. After 3 months of employment I was the new Aftermarket Sales Manager of Northern Aire Industries. I had my own secretary that would call preexisting customers to ask them if they needed any maintenance on their machines. She would then set up an appointment for me to go out and visit them. When I went out to the client’s house I would fix whatever problems they were having, clean their machines, and try to sell them some extra filters and maybe even some attachments. I started the aftermarket sales department at Northern Aire and within six months I was running FILTERQUEEN’s largest Aftermarket Sales Department in the Twin Cities. I feel very proud of what I accomplished during the year I spent at Northern Aire, but high pressure sales are not my higher calling. I still feel very strongly about the benefits of these machines and would still recommend them to any one, especially if they have asthma or allergies. This job really helped me grow up and decide to do something with my life. It provided me with an immense amount of responsibility and taught me a little bit about myself. This job gave me the confidence I have today to get up in front of people and present information. I had to be an excellent team player working at Northern Aire, managing two other workers underneath me. I realized through this job that I can do whatever I want as long as I have the right attitude and then decided to go back to school and expand my options. Sincerely, Craig Larter Student
