  5. OUR OBSERVATION • Mag. Eva Fuchs • 6 different English classes in 7 periods: • P1- Michelle – ESL – Grade 9 • P2 – Marina – Grade 7 • P3 – Kirstin – Grade 11 (Literature class) • P4 – Eva – Grade 12 • P5 – Jason – ESL – Grade 9 • P6 – Jonathan – ESL – Grade 6 • P7 – A tour around the school 

  8. they use NO TEXTBOOKS • lessons are based on reading (e.g. Teacher‘s Dead, Holes, Hobbit,…) – most of the books are read in their original editions • classescontainedrelativelylowamountoffactsand curriculum compared to Czechschoolsystem, lessonsbased on R + questioning • thechildrenknow literary theory – metaphor, metonymy, simile, alliteration, kennings, symbolism,… • also some problemswithdisciplineandattention • whole department for children with specific learning difficulties • thenumberofstudents in class vary The most important differences and similarities from English classes in Czech Republic
