  4. Outline • Protocol • A standard / format • HTTP (Hypertext transfer protocol) • It’s very popular and very useful • Most of the websites can be accessed by HTTP • SMTP (Simple mail transfer protocol) • Comp dept/ yahoo mail plus / netease mail/ • Very very convenient and popular

  5. What will you get? • Objectives: • know the concept of HTTP and SMTP • use telnet to connect HTTP and SMTP service • “Side-effect” • Impersonate Kaiyong to send an email to Bruce. Lee • Sending spam mails • In Hong Kong, sending spam emails would constitute a crime
