  10. Knowledge Transfer Partnerships Strathclyde has the highest level of KTP activity in Scotland: currently 22 funded projects. KTPs enable graduate students to work as a KTP Associate on a project with a company and the University. Graduates gain valuable work experience. Around 75% of Associates are offered a permanent full-time job by the business on completion of their project. Graduate Associate University Company

  11. Knowledge Transfer Partnerships Strathclyde has the highest level of KTP activity in Scotland: currently 22 funded projects. International Students can take advantage of KTPs (most are two year projects) immediately after their Strathclyde Degree. Of the 15 projects currently already up and running, seven of these have non-EU Graduates as the Associate (highlighted in pink).

Working after Studying for International Students International students who require a visa (entry clearance) to come to the UK, who have studied in the UK and graduate with an undergraduate degree, a postgraduate certificate or diploma, a Master's degree or PhD can apply to the Post-Study Work Scheme, which is one of the categories under Tier 1 of the UK Government's Point Based Systems of immigration control. It allows to apply for a 24-month extension of the visa in order to find work, within a 12-month period of the date of graduation. It is not necessary to have an offer of a job in order to apply. This Post-Study Work Scheme replaces the Fresh Talent Working in Scotland Scheme and the International Graduate Scheme. Clyde Waterfront Regeneration This is Scotland’s single most significant urban renewal project and development opportunity with around £5 - 6bn of public and private sector investment, which will transform 20km of the river Clyde from Glasgow city centre to Dumbarton. “I am interested in Urban Renewal and Glasgow offers that as a ‘Living Laboratory’ as much as any city. The east end of Glasgow, in particular, is undergoing enormous amount of regeneration and it would behoove me to witness the transformation first hand.” (Application from international student, March 2009.)

Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games ● The games will be held over 12 days, with the opening ceremony on 23 July 2014, and the last day of competition and closing ceremony on 3 August 2014. ● The games budget is £288m, with an extra £9.5m contingency on top. ● The Scottish government and Glasgow Council have agreed to underwrite the costs of staging the Games in an 80/20 split. ● An estimated 15,000 volunteers will help staff the Games. ● 1,000 new homes will be built and given over to social and affordable housing.
