  1. Participation in LCGT (KAGRA) Collaboration from Shanghai Group: progress report Xiang-hua Zhai Shanghai Normal University f2f meeting of LCGT, Feb. 2-4,2012

  2. Initiation • August, 2010 • Professor Kuroda visited SUCA, Shanghai Normal University, SUCA organized a collaboration discussion and Professor Kuroda gave a talk on LCGT and GW detection • At this discussion, collaboration agreement was drafted.

  3. What we have done in the Feb. 3-11, 2011 f2f meeting and after-meeting visit • Xiang-hua Zhai and Ping Xi attended f2f meeting • Giving statements on the interests in quantum scheme and data analysis • Approved to become international collabration members in the meeting • Visited NAOJ, KEK and Wasda University • Discussed with Profs. Kanda and Somiya on detailed collabration directions

  4. April 2011 • The agreement on the collabration between SUCA and ICRR was signed.

  5. Aug. 19-20, 2011 • Prof. Takaaki Kajita visited SHNU. • We organized a Mini-workshop on GW detection to enlarge the collabration in Shanghai area. • 25 people from East China Normal University (Prof. Long-sheng Ma and his group), Shanghai Jiaotong University, East China University of Science and Technology, Shanghai University, Shanghai Astronomical Observatory(SHAO), Shanghai Institute of Ceramics(SIC) and SHNU attended the workshop. • 4 talks (Prof. Takaaki Kajita, Prof. Wei-tou Ni, Dr. Jing Zeng from SHAO, Dr. Li-he Zheng from SIC) • Discussed on further collaboration and joint research potential in Shanghai area regarding to LCGT. • Prof. Kajita visited SIC and, together with SUCA, set the next visit of Japanese expert(s) to Shanghai in September.

  6. Sep. 21-23, 2011 • Prof. Norikatsu Mio visited SHNU and SIC • Mini-workshop: 3 talks ( Profs. Mio, Ni and Zhai) • Deep discussion on further collabration and acceleration of substantial progress . • Prof. Mio and Prof. Ni visited the Sapphire factory in Xuzhou and discussed the manufacture of sapphire crystals for LCGT together with SIC and Factory authority.

  7. Sep. 2011 • As one core organization of China, SHNU participated in applying a JSPS fund for exchange researchers with overseas countries under the keyword of conducting gravitational wave research by LCGT.

  8. What we will do • Our interests: quantum scheme and data analysis • quantum scheme: We will consider how to use squeezed state to reduce quantum noise and to consider the application in LCGT. • data analysis:we are studying the relativistic spin double black hole system. We are working on the numerical method to study the waveform and the dynamical properties of gravitational waves in the three stages of gravitational wave radiation in order to create a complete template to use in LCGT data analysis . • Xiang-hua Zhai and Ping Xi intend to attend the f2f meeting in Aug. • Our graduate students have had the initial concept on GW detection through several talks and some of them are interested in the LCGT project.

  9. Thank you
