  1. Cilia By: Andrew Polo

  2. What is Cilia? • Cilia is a microscopic, thin, and hair like extension on some cells and on some organism. • There about 100-200 Cilia cells in a human body. • It is found in almost every living thing on this earth. • These Hair like cells move in one direction to clean debris and dust and other particles.

  3. Where is Cilia found? • Cilia is found in many of our air passages in our body SUCH AS: • In women's uterus • In our nose • In our throats • In the lungs • And even in our brains

  4. There are different types of Cilia • One Cilia is called Motile which are located in the lungs. These are the cilia that keep the dirt and debris from entering the lungs. • Non-motile (Primary Cilia) which works with the organs such as kidney, it works with urine and tell the body when we need to use the bathroom. 5. Cilia in the lungs

  6. What is the purpose of Cilia? • Well cilia is needed a lot in our body's because it helps keep our lungs clean, it prevents dust particles from entering the lungs. • Because we have mucus in our body's the debris would get caught in it. • That’s why we have the cilia that pushes the mucus away from the lungs therefore all the dirty bad stuff wont get near it to hurt you. (Even though the mucus is nasty be grateful because your cilia is saving you)

  7. Can Cilia’s be damaged? • YES THERE CAN, anything can be damaged. • The most common reason why people cilia's are damaged because of smoking (smoking damages our body a lot) • A cigarette has A LOT of toxins , all of the cigarette’s dirt stays in the lungs and spread to other organs because of that the lungs produce more mucus than its suppose too. • With a damaged Cilia where is all the mucus going to stay at? In the body. (which can damage the body) • (Why do you think smokers cough a lot)

  8. VS.

  9. Can you undo Cilia damage? • Yes you actually can undo Cilia damage if its caused by smoking. . . . . STOP SMOKING, And live a long happy life

  10. Don’t be a….
