History of the country • During the first decade of independence, Haiti mounted five invasions to reconquer the eastern part of the island: in 1844, 1845, 1849, 1853 and 1855-56. • The Dominic republic’s first constitution was adopted on November 6th,1844 • The Dominic Republic was first explored by Christopher Columbus on his first voyage in 1492 • The capital San Domingo was found in 1492 • Spain regained the title of the colony in 1814 • Haitians were thrown out by the Dominican when it was established
