Definitions • Liners and bases are materials placed between dentine and the restoration to provide pulpal protection. • Lining materials can be divided into three groups: • Bases • Liners • Varnishes
Liners and bases • Liners and bases can provide protection from: • Chemicals • Electrical stimulus • Thermal stimulus • Mechanical stimulus It can also be used as a pulpal medication to help alleviate symptoms from pulpal inflammation
