  6. Answer these questions; • You need oil for your new car, • You need to buy petrol – likely you can’t put the wrong pump into the space provided • You need to buy cleaning products • You need to buy new tires

  7. How can food help us to become healthier? Research has discovered about 50 factors ( of which about 45 are nutrients) that must come from our environment . They include: …………………………………………………………………………. Can you please list as many as you know

  8. They include • Essential nutrients: 20 or 21 minerals; 13 vitamins; 8 amino acids( 10 for children, 11 for premature infants): and 2 essential fatty acids • A source of energy ( most commonly starch or glucose) • Water • Oxygen • Light

  9. Food and Medicine – no separation Hippocrates, the father of modern medicine, famously once said, ” let food be thy medicine, and thy medicine be thy food”

  10. Detox diets The body has its own inherit ability to heal itself when given the right environment

  11. Cut finger example • After few minutes, the bleeding stops • Within few hours, a scab has formed, your body is well under way at repairing the damaged tissue Now- what will happen when we start picking at the scab?
