  2. DIRECTIONS Please take out a sheet of loose leaf paper and answer all of the questions on the remaining slides of this Power Point.

  3. Candidates’ Backgrounds Please set up a t-chart on Mitt Romney and Barack Obama with room for the following: -Age -Place of birth -Education (colleges, major, degrees) -Interests/Hobbies -Jobs Held/Career Please fill in this t-chart by searchingsites on the web.

  4. Which Candidate Are You Most Like? Please visit the website ProCon.org. It is located at: http://2012election.procon.org/view.resource.php?resourceID=004491 Go to the next slide for further directions.

  5. Take the Quiz! Answer the following items on the quiz. You may answer more if you would like. There is a glossary at the bottom of the menu bar on the left to help you with unfamiliar terms. When you have finished, write down which candidate you share the most opinions with and the percentage of opinions you share. Simply answer “yes”, “no”, or “neither or unsure” to the questions. Items to answer: 1 through 10, 15, 17, 20, 21 through 25, 27, 29 through 32, 34, 36 through 39, 41 through 56, 61 through 64, and 66 through 68.

  6. The Electoral College Please visit the “270 to Win” website. It is located at: http://www.270towin.com/ Answer the questions on the next slide.

  7. “270 To Win” Questions -How many “battleground” states are there as of today? (States colored tan) -What four “battleground” states would Romney have to win to win the overall election? Click on a state to make it red for Romney. Hit “Reset Map” (It is where the Gulf of Mexico would be) -What four “battleground” states would Obama have to win to win the overall election? Click on a state twice to make it blue for Obama. -As of today, how many total electoral votes come from the “battleground” states? Go to the next slide for more questions related to this website.

  8. “270 To Win” Questions -Go to the 2008 Electoral College results map. Name two “battleground” states from 2012 that Obama won in 2008. -When was the last time a Republican presidential candidate won the state of Pennsylvania? Who was the candidate? -When was the last time a Democratic presidential candidate won the state of Texas? Who was the candidate? -In 1984, President Reagan won the electoral votes in all but two places. Where were they? -Name three states that either lost or gained electoral votes since the 2008 Presidential Election. Please write down how each changed.
