  2. Sin and Death God’s ways and His plans are always easy • Genesis 2:16 And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, "From any tree of the garden you may eat freely; but from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat from it you shall surely die."

The Lord our God is one Lord; and you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength.' "The second is this, 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no other commandment greater than these."

And if you do not do well, sin is crouching at the door; and its desire is for you, but you must master it.“ Sin(n): an offence, [a violation of the divine law in thought or in act; rebellion against the law, word or will of God] and its penalty from:(v): to miss the mark, to miss the goal or path of right and duty, to miss or lose oneself, to wander from the way and thus to incur forfeit, guilt, penalty, condemnation or punishment All sin is against God

He convinces a person that God is selfish, hiding the truth and keeping something from them: “For God knows that in the day you do it your eyes will be opened, He Builds up the ego and flesh, feeding the lust of the person: “you will be like God, knowing the truth.

Sin and Death What was God’s will for the man and woman to do in the Garden? • Genesis 2:15-17 Then the Lord God took the man and put him into the garden of Eden to cultivate it and keep it. • To Cultivate It: to work (in any sense); by implication, to serve (God), till, enslave, do (Levitical) service, worship or obey. • Keep It:to hedge about (as with thorns), i.e. guard; to protect, attend to, observe, preserve, regard, reserve, save, watch.

This was before sin and the curse and death “Cultivate” and “Keep” are feminine verbs Literally: to cultivate her and keep her. “Garden” is a masculine noun Genesis 2:7 Then the Lord God formed man of dust from the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being [soul].

  25. Sin and Death What is death? Departure or total separation from life and the living Spiritual death Seperation from God as the source of all life (Gen 3:22-24) Evidenced by insensitivity to the things of God The termination or cessation of life Divine appointment Servant to the believer

  26. Sin and Death What is death? The wages sin pays Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Wages: rations for a soldier, i.e. his stipend or pay: - wages. The fruit; the child or the seed of sin • James 1:15 Then when lust has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and when sin is accomplished, it brings forth death.

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. 1 Corinthians 15:21-23 For since by a man came death, by a man also came the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ all shall be made alive. But each in his own order: Christ the first fruits, after that those who are Christ's at His coming, Hebrews 2:14-15 Since then the children share in flesh and blood, He Himself likewise also partook of the same, that through death He might render powerless him who had the power of death, that is, the devil; and might deliver those who through fear of death were subject to slavery all their lives.
