  2. Description • Fewer than 1000 or less than 100 people live in the country. • Some rural communities are closer to other rural areas. • There are less people in the country than the city.

  3. Transportation • In Rural communities people walk, cycle and drive cars to get to work. • Kids in rural communities take the bus to get to school. • If some parents go to work in the city but live in the country they take a bus, boat or plane to get to work.

  4. PEOPLE/OCCUPATIONS • Some people have lived for generations and some have just moved their. • Here are some jobs people in rural communities have farmer, miner ,teacher E.T.C. • Some people move to a rural community because they enjoy the country.

  5. Resources • In a rural community they use natural resources to survive. • They get wood from forests, food from farms and fish from rivers , lakes and oceans. • Most rural areas have electricity and phone service.

  6. Cavendish P.E.I. • In Cavendish their is about 270 people living in that area. • The first people to live in Cavendish were aboriginal people called Mi’kmaq. • In 1790 people from Scotland traveled to Cavendish to settle and farm.
