  4. 2. SMATT Report • To prepare the SMATT project, we started to plan in 1999, and then started to train teachers in 2000 and 2001 • Resource persons: Naruto University of Education and other universities from Japan, NUOL and DTT from Laos • Participants: PA, RIES and TTCs/TTSs Menu

SMATT Report • 50 participants had been trained in Japan from 2002 to 2006 • The SMATT project actually started in June 2004 and will be finished in June 2008 • Main objective of the project is to improve science and mathematics teachers of Lao PDR in teaching method, focusing on the teachers in the 8 TTCs/TTSs Menu

  9. 2. SMATT Report • Since 2004, science and mathematics teachers participated in the local and national workshops: 774 time persons • Total expenditure: 255,981US$ (15/06/2004-29/02/2008) • JICA supported: 85.4% • TTCs/TTSs contributed: 14.6% Menu

  10. 2. SMATT Report • Long Term Training in Naruto University of Education (Master program) • Two science teachers • Two mathematics teachers • Science teacher and mathematics teacher have been studying in Japan. Two teachers prepare to study • Expected to get teaching method in Japan Menu

TEIs support coffee-break and sometime allowance for participants • Target: student teachers (=pre-service teacher training) → regional school teachers (= In-service Teacher Training) Menu
