2. Overview The article “Nursing Practices – England and America”, by Mary Madden is a nice essay which distinguishes the nursing professional life in USA and England. The writer illustrates her experience as a nurse with positive manner to show contrast of duties and responsibilities between two countries.

3. Purpose • In our presentation, we intend to organize point by point the author contrasts about the way the important profession of nursing is practiced in England and in the United States. By doing so, we want to give the audience some information about nursing and make them more appreciate for the work of nurses.

4. Licensing law • A nurse must apply in every state in which he/she hopes to work • Allows practice anywhere in British Isles and in some countries abroad

5. Patient Care • Doctor is the person the patient knows best and confides most easily • Patient is likely to be under the care of the same doctor in and out of the hospital • To the patient nurse is the most familiar person • The nurse is in view of the patient constantly

Patient Care • Nurse is not allowed much freedom to advise a patient • Physicians orders ``OOR in 24 hours`` or ``may take a shower `` • The patients place unquestioned confidence in nurses` judgement and advice • Nurse decides when the patient is allowed out of bed or what type of bath patient may have

10. Social Life • Time and means are available to expand horizons and to enrich personality • Develops interests in arts, sports or a creative hobby • Eight hours work each day while on duty but hours are arranged to work twice in one day • Expected to find full satisfaction in vocation

11. Conclusion Nursing law is same all over in UK but differs each state in USA In patient care nurses’ take more roll in UK compare to USA Nurses’ have greater innovation opportunity and better personal life in USA than UK
