  2. Not naming an archive makes it difficult to locate the archive from the administrator’s panel. See the example on the next page. What’s the Problem?Editing the Archive Title

  3. This is an example inside one of the Wimba campus servers administration side. Could you tell which course these belonged to?

  4. How to title/retitle your archive.

  5. For those created outside of Blackboard, WebCT & Moodle To access the Archive Management section, the user needs to have Room Administrator Access. Log into www.ndivnlc.wimba.com/admin Use Presenter access - login name and password Then click on Archives. Archive Management page will appear. Accessing Archive Management

  6. For those created outside of Blackboard, WebCT & Moodle using the www.ndivnlc.wimba.com Note the title of the Archives include the room name and date. How do you know what topic was covered? For example – NDSU Extension Soils example on the left – we don’t know which session had a guest speaker, or which one was about loam or earthworms or fertilizer. So how would you know which one to delete or keep? Why edit an archive title?

  7. Step 1: Click on the title of the archive you wish to edit. • Step 2: Click on Archive Settings How to edit the title

  8. Step 3: Under title- type in the name you wish to Give the session. Include your campus abbreviation course/event name and then topic. In the example – it would be NDSU Ext Soils-Fertilizer Or NDSU Ext Soils-Fertiler- 04/12/09 • Step 4: Click on Save Changes How to edit the title

  9. For those created within Blackboard, WebCT & Moodle Blackboard Example being shown – similar procedure within WebCT and Moodle. STEP 1: Go to the page where you have your Wimba Rooms and Archives listed within the course. STEP 2: Click on the name of the archive. How to edit the title

STEP 3: Click on edit settings Example: Type in FinLit Test-4/21/2009 Since this group is already associated with a particular campus server, you do not need the campus abbreviation in the title STEP 4: Modify Room page will appear. Change the title in the box and click submit. How to edit the title

  11. Trainthe instructor on naming the archive properly. After the archive has been created, they can retrieve itand name it properly. It is easier to do it once it has been created then at the end of the semester. • If it is properly named – should you need to find the archive on your Wimba server administration page, it will be easier to find. • See example on next page.   12. Here’s a good example of properly labeling the Archives – note the EDUC 702 Archive listing. A campus abbreviation is not needed since this is on a particular campus Wimba server.

If the archive is created within your Wimba Server – those with Bb, WebCT You can use the course abbreviation followed by session or topic matter. • If the archive is created within Moodle – you will need to add your campus abbreviation – Example: MaSU Eng 101 – Nouns • If the archive is created within the www.ndivnlc.wimba.com server – you will need to add your campus abbreviation. Example: BSC NRG 101 - Circuits How to title an archive

  14. Deleting an Archive

  15. If you have assigned a user, Room Administrator rights in addition to being a presenter, they can go in and delete their own archive OR • If you are also a Room Administrator for their room, you can delete the archive for them. For those using www.ndivnlc.wimba.com

  16. How to do it STEP 1: Click on the Archive tab. This brings you to the Archive Management page. STEP 2: Locate the archive(s) you wish to delete. Click the check box to the left of the archive. STEP 3: At the bottom of the screen, select Delete Selected in the drop down menu. STEP 4: Click the Update button. A warning message appears asking if you are sure you want to permanently delete the archive. STEP 5: Click OK

  17. If you have access to the Wimba Server assigned for your campus as a Wimba Administrator, you can follow the same steps in the previous slide. • If you do not have access, contact your campus Wimba Server Administrator to assist you. For those with Bb, WebCT or Moodle
