  2. Unit Plan Summary Students will study the Tuskegee Airmen in order to understand sacrifice above personal gain, and to develop similarities between themselves and the airmen. Student study will culminate with mock interview of a Tuskegee Airman, followed by short reflective essay.

  4. Curriculum Framing Questions (2) UNITQUESTIONS • What is sacrifice? • Is sacrifice important? Why? • Why did the Tuskegee Airmen make sacrifices? • How do the sacrifices of the Tuskegee Airmen affect me? CONTENTQUESTIONS • Define key terms: P-51 Mustang, Army Air Corps, Desegregation, Congressional Gold Medal, Personal Courage, Teamwork • What were the sacrifices of the Tuskegee Airmen? • How did the TA’s contributions during World War II affect Allied efforts? • How did the TA’s contributions after World War II affect the US?

  5. Benefits of Projects, CFQs, and Ongoing Assessments • Students continue their study of World War II, leadership, sacrifice, project management, and group dynamics. • Students learn writing and thinking skills while they are working on the project. • Throughout the project students give and receive feedback on their work.
