  4. Pronouns after prepositions • Pronouns can stand or be replaced with the same noun yet still have different forms, depending on how they’re being used in a sentence. • You already know subject pronouns and the pronouns used with “gustar”. But pronouns have a different form when they come after prepositions like: “a” (to) “de” (of, from, about) “con”(with) “en” (in, on, at)

  5. Pronouns after prepositions (cont.) • The pronouns “mi” and “ti” combine with “con” to make the special forms: • Conmigo – With me • Contigo – with you • With gustar, the phrase formed by “a” and a pronoun can be added to a sentence to clarify or emphasize who likes something.

  6. Page 88-89 act. 11-12 • Activity 11 – Complete Maria’s letter choosing the correct prepositions and pronouns • Soy Extrovertida. (A mi / A ellos) me gustapasar el rato… • Answer: because of “me gusta” the correct answer would be “a mi” • Activity 12 – Look at the pictures and say whether you like to do those activities. Also say what friends you do each activity with. • Me gustanadar con mis amigos. • I like to swim with my friends. • 2) Me gustajugarteniscontigo. • I like to play tennis with you.

  7. Querer with infinitives • To say what you or others want, use the verb “querer” • The form that you use depends on the subject or who you’re talking about or who you’re talking to. • Just as with “gustar” you can use a noun or an infinitive after a form of “querer” to say what you and others want and want to do.

  8. Page 90 act. 15-16 • Activity 15 – Choose the correct form of “querer” to complete the sentences • Marta y yo (quieren/queremos) comer. • Answer – because “Marta y yo” is same as “nosotros then your answer would be “queremos” • Activity 16 – Complete the conversation with the correct form of “querer” (LOOK AT THE SUBJECT AND MATCH UP with the correct form of “querer”) • Hola, Carla. ?Que _________ hacer hoy? • Answer – because the question is being asked to you, the form of “querer” that goes with “tu” is “quieres”
