  2. Why a mobile application?? Urban population forms 82% of the total mobile internet users- 153 Mn out of 185 Mn Out of 153 Mn urban users Approx 67% are Smartphone users

  3. iVote – Need of the Hour • E-governance -ultimate act of empowerment for the people • Most of the present day voters are young and quite tech-savvy • 1.79 lakh New voters (approx)in each Parliamentary constituency. Of them, about 24 % in the 18-19 age group • Use of mobile technology becomes imperative in any SVEEP activity • Rise of social media's importance can be utilized as an incentive to leverage the initiatives • With the elections process under way- much need to reach to more voters through all means iVote signifies • Individual’s assertion over his/her right of voting as in “I VOTE” • It also signifies that INDIA VOTES • It explains the internet base of its utility features as in “iPhone/iPad”

What is iVote ? • Android based user friendly mobile application • Various Election related utility features like • Directions to the one’s polling booth, information about contesting candidates • EPIC based customisation and E-voting Slip • Knowing about the Candidates Info • A comprehensive model code of conduct for ready reference • An easy complaint submission mechanism • Live Election Results

  6. Map2booth User can select District from menu and type in polling booth no. Press “get directions” tab. Using the mobile’s GPS location /coordinates from the database, find exact directions to booth and also navigate through the route Helpful to young first time voters -finding the booth a pleasurable exercise Female voters don't have to depend on anyone to guide them to their polling booths

Candidate Affidavit To Help the voters to make informed choice Most of the time the Candidate’ s information critical information is not that readily available to voters User can see the Affidavit (form 26) filed by any candidate in a particular parliamentary constituency during nomination process

  8. Model Code of Conduct Ready reference of Model of Conduct guidelines for the political parties and candidates are displayed If required more informative material regarding Form 6, Form7, Form 8,Form 8A can also be preloaded

Complaint Registration Complaint registration process –need to be very simplistic one One has to just write his name, email id and details of complaint and send it to authorities as the contact details of the complaint centre for various districts already pre-fed Even if one wants to attach any pictures then can use the ATTACH feature with his/her complaint

EPIC based Customization To generate e-Voter Slip, Go directly to voter’s unique polling booth location Display candidates of voter’s constituency only NO requirement of submitting district name in complaint submission Mobile number can be verified and can be used to send election relevant information

  11. Live Election Results Live Counting trends for Nation-Wise, State/Constituency-wise and Party wise results Can be selected in advance /delivered via timely push notifications or as ticker on his mobile screen

Launch & User Response Despite the late start ,There were total 75,516 potential users as on 05th June, 2014 First milestone achieved within 8 days of launchwith 10,000 downloads by 24th April, 2014 As on 25th May, 2014 the total actual downloads for iVotewere25,494 Positive mouth publicity-many people from other countries have also browsed through the application Mainly countries with siginificant Punjabi Diaspora as USA, Canada, UK, Australia, Indonesia etc.

Positive response to iVote iVote was reviewed by 647 users out of the total users Out of these 537 reviews (more than 85 %) were very encouraging and are positive (Four stars or above) People, who reviewed the application praised the application for its Simplicity, Functionality, user interface and overall user experience.

User reviews / Limitations User Suggestions Limitations • Totally Funded through Donations under CSR • Technical/ Creative Inputs /support through private company on pro bono basis • Certain features such as printing/saving option for the voter slip generated by iVote • Search option of name based search for EPIC ID- to be launched recently • Features were server dependent /old version of server has delayed inclusion of these features

Way Forward-Ultimate solution Scope of iVote • Pre-election purposes such as new voter registration, deletion of name, change of address or other information • During Election needs such as knowledge of contesting candidates, knowing model code of conduct and easy complaint mechanism • On Voting day needs such as e-Voter Slip and Map2booth

Way Forward-Ultimate Solution Miscellaneous Form 06, 07 and 08 • Small utilities such as optional countdown timer for voting day which gives weekly, daily and hourly notifications for voting • Tag My Vote/Ability to poke social network contacts on their voting days so as to urge them to go out and vote • Increase the Fun Experience as well utility to the voters. • Form number 06, 07 and 08 should be integrated and made available vide this application • Single stop solution for all the basic needs of a voter (or prospective voter).

Technical Details Mobile app compatibility Data Requirements • Android 2.1 and above • Polling location /booth wise latitude –longitude coordinates of all the parliamentary constituencies in Microsoft excel sheet format. • Call centre details viz. Email id, phone, address • Voter EPIC detail stating their name , constituency and polling booth in Microsoft excel format
