What is available • Open Access facilities • PCs, Scanners, Printers (b/w and colour) • Desktop Software • Microsoft Office 2010, Antivirus Software Kaspersky • Specialist Software • SimVenture (Business Simulation), SPSS (Statistics), Qualtrics (Online Surveys) • Software for use on your own PC • SPSS etc (Search ILSSelfhelp for ‘Software’)

  7. Launching Applications • Start ► • All Programs ► • University Software ► • Software A to Z ► Specialist software - we have 300+ specialist apps across the fleet. Your lecturers will guide you to any you will need.

  10. File Management Drive letters and what they do: • C: for Operating System • D: CD/DVD Writer • E: for memory stick • U: your personal file space

  11. File Management • Use Folders to organise your work • Archive old files to free up space • (copy to CD and then delete) • Remember : empty the bin SAVE OftenandKEEP OLD VERSIONS

The Student Portal • To Access your student portal area, use the icon on the desktop • An official communication route • Single Point of Access to many sources of information: • E-mail, Personal files, Module Folders • Electronic Information Sources (Journals etc) • Can be accessed via web browser: http://student.plymouth.ac.uk
